Trying to use the Remote that came with my Cox HD-DVR - can't seem to get the Yamaha turned on once it's turned off. In other words, I can get the Cox remote to power it off, control volume, mute, etc; it just won't power it on once it's off.

Any ideas?

Which remote do you have, and what setup code are you using for Yamaha? Assuming you are using either the Cox M7820 (http://support.cox.com/sdccommon/asp/contentredirect.asp?sprt_cid=ba0d3e8d-b851-4bf1-a856-74efd008b25b) or the Atlas 5 remote and the setup code is 0176, you can program in the power on function in one of the keys not being used:

1. Press and release AUX (or AUD, depending on what you have)
2. Press and hold SETUP until the remote blinks twice
3. Type 9 9 4
4. Press and release SETUP
5. Type 0 0 2 4 8
6. Press and release the button you want to assign Power on function to.
The remote should blink twice

One somewhat logical placement of Power on would be the POWER key and the Power off on the shifted-POWER. In that case, use the POWER key for step 6 above and then to define Power off on shifted-POWER, repeat the process above except use the code "00246" for step 5, and press and release SETUP before step 6 and then press POWER for step 6. To power off, press and release SETUP and then press POWER.

BTW, if you are missing functions that in the default setup, and you'd like to add them, you can find the advanced codes for some of them on this page (http://www.hifi-remote.com/codes2/amp_0176.shtml). Use the codes on that page in step 5 above with 2 zeros added in front (the Cox remote uses 5 digit advanced codes and the listed codes are 3 digits). There are other codes for other functions, but getting those are a little more involved.

If you have one of the remotes starting with AT or RT, I don't think you can use the procedure above to program in functions.

Thanks for the quick response - I'll give it a try tonight.
