I just bought an HDTV 1080p. I hooked up a Motorola cable box through Comcast. I reviewed the settings that allow me to tell the cable box what to pass to the TV. The maximum setting is 1080i. When I view the status display on the TV, the input is 1080i.

Is this OK? I expected it to be 1080p. Could someone tell me if all is well? I suspect it is, but wonder just the same. Thanks.

The most a cable HD box will pass is 1080i. 1080p is so new there's no network broadcasting in that format yet, and I'm not sure if they will anytime soon.

The only sources I know that put out 1080p is the Blue Ray / HD DVD players and the PS3.

Don't worry. Your TV will work fine at 1080i.

Won't a 1080p set deinterlace 1080i anyway?
