Ok so this is all very new to me and I am having some problems.
I just purchased aimersoft DVD Ripper program and what I am looking at doing is putting my whole DVD collection an a NAS (d-link dns-323) which I still have purchase. then I was going to pick up an XBOX to use XBMC with and play it on my 46" LCD.
Ok so here is the first problem I am having I tried ripping some of the DVD's that I have and the quality is really bad. I tried different formats like .vob, Xvid, H.264 .. But when I try to play it back on my computer it looks pretty bad and stutters.
Here is my computer setup if it matters- C2D overclocked to 3.4ghz, Nvidia 8800gts 640mb, 2gb of ram, 37" Westy 1080p Monitor.
I am using Windows Media Player 11
Please help I just want to be able to rip all my dvd's to watch on a XBMC so what format would work the best for quality. Is the software I purchased the problem (Aimersoft)?

Thank you I really appreciate it!

Try DVDecrypter and/or DVDshrink. They are free on the internet. They should give good rips. If they don't, it could be your monitor. How does regular television look. Some HD monitors don't scale SD programming very well.

Except for overclocking the CPU, my set-up is the same. I have no problems playing ripped DVDs @ 1080p/60. I use DVDecrypter and do NOT use DVDshrink.

I think it could be your ripping SW or maybe virus stuff?

I've experienced similar playback issues with WMP before as well. Try playback in VLC and see how it goes.

Use AnyDVD (Payware) to rip the entire disc to your hard drive as IFO/VOB files.
Do not use any compression if you are using aimersoft...
If they look horrible on your pc then either:
1. You video card drivers are screwed up, or the codec you are using sucks.
AND/OR
2. The source DVD quality just plain sucks.

DVDFab HD Decrypter gets my vote also. Free and makes perfect rips every time. As stated earlier, if a rip from DVDFab Decrypter does not play smoothly on your PC there has to be something wrong with your hardware or software, I have never had a bad rip so far. The creators of the software are always on top of new forms of DVD encryption also. Did I mention it's free? :)

have you tried to play it on the tv or another pc?

for some reason, one of my work computers w/c2d has an issue like the one you are mentioning.
