View Full Version : Basic vs. Advanced authoring of BD disks?

From reading a white paper from a well-known high def Web site, I got the impression that all of the current DTS-HDMA sound tracks are authored in "basic mode" which allows them to be bitstreamed to receivers for decoding but when those soundtracks are authored in "advanced mode," that HDMI 1.3 will not allow the transmission via bitstream to the receiver for decoding--that decoding will have to be done ONLY inside the player. Also, the inference was made that many or most of the future BD disks that are encoded with DTS-HDMA will be authored in the advanced mode and thus, receivers with the DTS-HDMA logos will not be capable of decoding them except for the core.

Opinions/thoughts about the above statement?
