According to iSupply, the Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) for LCD and Plasma over the next 4 years will be 32% and 16%, respectively. Both technologies will be around for a long time.

Era of sequential quarterly growth for LCD TV shipments ending, says iSuppli (http://www.digitimes.com/displays/a20071205PR200.html)

This isn't like video games where you are always buying a lot of games because once you buy a TV, then you can often be stuck with it for a long time, so sales will be high for a while, but when everyone has a TV, there won't be too many people buying them.

geez...

just one quote from the article...

"In the first quarter of 2008, LCD TV unit shipments will decline to 19.5 million units, noted the research firm. "The slower first- quarter shipments are the result of seasonal factors," said Riddhi Patel, principal analyst for television systems for iSuppli. "But LCD TV shipments in the second quarter of 2008 will amount to only 21.9 million units, still down from the peak level in the fourth quarter of 2007. But once the third quarter comes around, LCD TV unit shipments will reach a new historical quarterly high."
