Hi
Anyone using the Harmony 670 on the Yamaha RX-V661 receiver.
I am planning to get the 670 and would like to know if it can be used
to access all the menus on the receiver.

The 670 remote seems to be dedicated for DVR's so I was wondering if
it can control A/V receivers at all.

In case 670 wont work on the Yamaha 661 reciver and if there are
people using the HArmony 880 on the Yamaha 661 I would like to
hear from you also.

Any feedback is appreciated.

I wanted to start a new thread as the yamaha 661 thread or the Harmony 880 thread is too vast to address any particular issue.

Hope it is ok.

Thanks

The 670 was designed to be used for DVRs, but is not dedicated to DVRs. The button layout was designed to be easier to use with DVRs.

I don't have that receiver, but I use my 670 to control my Onkyo receiver. I am able to use all functions of my original Onkyo remote. I did get tired of searching through the commands on the LCD screen for using setup in Device mode, so I mapped some of the setup buttons (Setup, Return and Enter) to the the Menu, Exit and OK buttons on the remote.

Either remote should work with your receiver. I really like the button type and layout of the 670 better.

It's been almost a year since I set mine up. The software has changed somewhat. It looks like after adding your device and activities, you can go back into Device mode, select your AV Receiver Settings, Customize Buttons.

I would recommend that you set up your Devices and Activities and try the remote before customizing. You can go into Devices on the remote, select your AVR and check the operation of the buttons on the list. Then go back into the software and make the customizations.
