As the title says guys. Didn't know about the Monk one (or Psych one) until this morning. Got my DVR set.

Since both shows started when USA was SD-only, the shows (though produced in HD) may have initially been delivered in SD to them. The reason for this may be that they did not have HD playback facilities early on.

They may only have widescreen SD copies of previous shows. However, I'm sure they'll get HD versions should they see fit to air those episodes often enough.

Thanks for posting this. I currently have season passes to Monk and Pysch but I need to set the passes so that the shows record in HD.

The colors do seem muted. PQ is, I wouldn't say soft, but it does not have that pop to it.

My exact thoughts, still 16:9 in a much higher resolution then 4:3 SD!!!

Agreed. I loved how Gus inherited his "super sniffer" from the parents. :D and Monk biting off Santa's head (well, OK, it was just a cookie) was priceless.

I noticed the same thing...are you guys sure this is real HD? It appeared to me that it may have been 480p widescreen [standard DVD quality]

Am glad I saw this here...thought may be a problem with my HDTV :)

For the first time Monk and Psych were also letterboxed on USA's SD channel. It also looks like they're not shot protected for 4:3 so much, anymore. Maybe 14:9?
