Current system:
HP Pavilion a500n
AMD Athlon XP 2800+
768 MB PC2700 DDR
128 MB DDR NVIDIA GeForce FX 5600 Ultra GPU
I currently receive HD channels OTA and via QAM. My main goal is to be able to use my current PC with an HD tuner (HD Homerun or MyHD MDP-130) and a media streamer (Popcorn Hour or SageTV HD Extender) as an HD DVR with timeshifting. I've read so many different topics in various forums that my head is beginning to spin, and it's hard to keep it all straight. Someday down the road I'll upgrade to a new HTPC, but for now I want to get by with what I have. I am not at all concerned with HD-DVD or Blu Ray right now. I figure if I use one of the HD tuners and media streamers above that I will also be able to use them with whatever setup I have in the future.
So my question is, will this setup be able to function as an HD DVR with timeshifting? Are there other HD tuners and/or media streamers I should consider? Any other ideas? Thanks for your input!
