My wife has always mentioned she'd like to get satellite radio. So I would like to get her a receiver for Christmas. This will be for her and not me. It would be for use primarily in her car, but she'd like to be able to operate it in the house also. Of utmost importance will be ease of use, and ease of moving between the house and the car. I've done some searches, but they don't quite fit her criteria.

You want a car receiver and either a matching "boombox" accessory for standalone use, or "home kit" that allows the receiver to be plugged into a stereo or HT that accepts line-level (aux, tuner or tape) inputs through RCA jacks.

A quick look at frys.com found these (http://shop4.outpost.com/category/Outpost/Car+Electronics/Car+Satellite+Accessories?accipterAreaString=)accessories and home kits (http://shop4.outpost.com/search?cat=-58712&pType=pDisplay). The home kits all seem to include an antenna, the boomboxes don't specifically mention it but probably do (check before you buy - you want that). Radio Shack (http://www.radioshack.com/uc/index.jsp?page=researchLibraryArticle&articleUrl=..%2Fgraphics%2Fuc%2Frsk%2FUSContent%2FHTML%2Fpag es%2Fsirius.html&noBc=true) also carries Sirius (but not XM) receivers and accessories; their boombox accessories specifically mention including an antenna. By no means are these the only places carrying this stuff, but they were the first to come to mind. Probably many electronics merchants that sell car audio will have what you're looking for.

You would still need to buy the receiver that goes with whichever indoor system, and move it from home to car. The advantage of this is that you'd need only one subscription since it's just one receiver. The Delphi RoadyXT XM receiver, which I have, is about the size of half a deck of playing cards and just pops in and out of its cradle. The power, antenna and audio are all connected to the cradle itself, so you don't have to mess with any of that; I presume others are similar. Delphi has a home kit for the Roady (but I only use it in the car, so I don't have that), and Fry's had them in stock when I was there a month ago, but I don't see it online.

Is this the sort of thing you are looking for? What are the criteria you're having trouble with?

BTW, XM pretty much has standing offers for subscriptions at rates far below "retail"; I presume Sirius does, too, so check for these whichever provider you end up with.
