View Full Version : PoTC 3: Misprint [Blu-Ray]
Just thought this would entertain some of you, even though its in the wrong forum.
Most of us have 1080p sets. Most of us have a PS3 and own blu-rays to take advantage of this technology.
Now imagine going to Target picking up PoTC3 on blu-ray at worlds end, last tuesday and coming home and looking at the back of the box to see
Video: 1080i
I was really confused. I really disregarded it at first because I diddnt end up watching it until this afternoon and sure enough it displayed in 1080p.
I thought Disney had its fun with all the porn in its movies and packaging. But I guess another fool made their mark and scared the **** out of everyone who bought this.
Heres the article:

mboojigga 12-08-07, 05:03 PM Yep saw that before it was released they made the statment it was a misprint.
I don't know about the most have 1080P sets though. HMMMMM
w1ngman 12-08-07, 05:10 PM Yup, there's been a lot discussed about this in the other forum.
257Tony 12-08-07, 07:23 PM Good thing they got that cleared up, I don't see how anybody could stand to watch a movie in only 1080i:rolleyes:
Wouldn't it be the exact same picture if laced together properly?

You can't tell people this who are so brainwashed and determined that they have to have everything in 1080P. They just have too.

What would be funny is if someone found this movie to be 720P and upset that it is false advertisement of resolution. Another lawsuit in the making.
there is no difference between 1080i vs 1080p on a film material.

Yet customers come into stores everyday wanting to get 1080P becuase that is the buzz word but won't spend money on a BR player to get actual 1080P source. They assume they are going to get it from Directv or Comcast is offering it.
"oh really I thought they did"
"That display has the best picture in this store. Sir, that display is 720P."

True, but like many displays they may not be able to deinterlace 1080i film properly, including mine. Therefore 1080p is preferrable.

steven975 12-08-07, 09:50 PM that's not the only error they've made.
many of their movies state 24bit PCM, yet they are only 16bit.

Wouldn't the player do the de-interlacing? And don't most if not all Blu-Ray players have awesome scalers?

I went off on a tangent. :o I was thinking about 1080i movies on cable or sat.
This topic was about a particular BD. And I believe you are right it does seem to have an awesome scaler for dvd's.
