I bought a crossover cable so I can hook up my TVIX 4100SH (FW version 1.3.05 RC-1) to my computer to transfer my media files over without having to unhook my TVIX from the TV and hook it up to the USB port on my computer every time I needed to add/remove files.

I cannot get it to work.

I have on my wireless for the Internet
IP: 192.168.0.101
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.11

When I enable my NIC (built into the motherboard) it eventually picks up a 169.254.x.x address.
I tried setting the IPs to be static but it kills my wireless connection for some reason. Perhaps I am causing a conflict with the gateway or subnet mask or something.
I try to set the Static IP on the NIC to 192.168.0.105
and the Subnet as 255.255.255.0
and I've left the Gateway blank but also tried 192.168.0.x (x meaning multiple IPs).

I'm doing this on a WinXP machine and have installed the TVIX NETSHARE program, but am lost.

Please advise and feel free to ask more questions.

Why don't you just use a FTP program? I use a simple free one called Core FTP LE.
You just enter the ip of the tvix, use username TvixFTP and get the password from one of the screens in the setup.
Easy to use, and you don't even need the Netshare program.

I heard that FTPing the files corrupts the hard drive / file system. I don't know if that is absolutely true but I don't have them backed up yet so I dunno if I want to take that step.
I figured out how to get the crossover cable working. i had to put the gateway of the Computer as the IP of the tvix box and the IP of the tvix box as the gateway of the Computer. The problem is though it for some reason really slows down my wireless connection, even with the tvix box is idle. With the crossover cable connection just "enabled" it slows it down. I have to "disable" the connection in windows for my wireless connection to work. This happened with my other PC (I just bought a new one last week) so I don't know what the problem is now.
