View Full Version : Anyone get a reinsert disc message for PS3 game?

I had initially set my PS3 vertically and it had been that way for almost a year. I then made some setup changes and have had the PS3 horizontally. Both ways I had no problems with the exception of the fan being louder when the PS3 is positioned horizontally.

Today while my son was playing Uncharted, I noticed how loud the fan was while walking by, so I tried the PS3 vertically. Several times after setting it up vertically, a message came up. It said and I am abbreviating, "reinsert disc". The game just continues from that point on. There is no loss of data and the game doesn't even shut off. This had never happened before and now I am a bit worried the laser might be off or some other issue is occuring. I haven't done any trouble shooting or experimenting with other discs or BD movies or even tried it back horizontally. I figured I would try to see if any other PS3 owners had this issue.

It is very critical to avoid moving the console around while its on, and has a DISK in the bay. It could potentially make scratches on the disc, or cause drive issues.

PS - I would try another DISC, movie or something... This way you can rest assured it was only during the moving part.

You would think I would know better than to move it while on, since I have been into this tech stuff for years. Sometimes I just don't think about how sensitive this eq is. Thanks GW. I haven't tried another disc yet, but will try tonight. The disc looks fine, albeit a few small smudges probably from my son, but it is a rental. I have had the disc for two weeks and I am the only one to rent it so far. I just hope I didn't throw off the drive. :o

NP I personally think that it should be fine! What could of happened is the drive had to adjust... especially when u switched around while playing. Are you still getting the same error with that game?

BTW BD should be great when it comes to whipping fingerprints off. Actually i think it has a great protective layer.

I tried playing it again and I got the message twice over and hour with the PS3 standing vertically. I then played it horizontally for over and hour and it didn't do it. Wierd.

Could be something with the drive. Try another disc, try between DVD/CD/ and BD movie/game.

It could be that the drive is not working correctly when sitting vertically. You might want to contact SONY TECH SUPPORT.
