8? No way, that's more like an LCD number. Plasmas are generally around 2ms I believe.

Response time is defined as the time a LCD pixel takes to go from completely on (black) to completely off (white). This number is not defined or advertised for plasma displays. However, in terms of ghosting and motion blur, plasmas generally perform better than the best LCDs.

That's one definition of response time. There are others as well. One of the ones you never hear about is gray to gray response time, which can be up to 4 times longer than the rise/fall response time on LCD panels.

Yes, you're right. However no manufacturer will ever advertise an LCD's response time measured in this way.

As far as I know, response times for plasma displays aren't measured. Also, the measurement would be significantly different for a plasma since the pixel off position is ill defined.

The reason I ask is I am trying to play guitar hero 3 and there is a calibration tool to adjust for HDTV Audio/visual lag. It's in MS. The auto calibration goes to 0ms, but it seems off to me. They suggest to set it to your tv's setting. So you guys are saying prob around 2 hey?

Panasonics 42"PZ700 is supposedly 12x the response time of LCD,and after watching HD hockey on my new PZ i tend to believe they're 100x faster!:D My buddy who was watching along with me has an expensive Sony xbr LCD about twice the price and said "WOW" speedy!and no blur!
