I've got a problem... my PS3's Component Out suddenly stopped working.

Using a composite cable, it works.

Using HDMI with my friend's LCD, works.

Any switch/reset with Component gives nothing but a blank screen.

I've tried switching cables, and TVs... all output methods except component work. Unfortunately, my main RPTV is component-only.

Anybody ever had this problem before? I've never seen only one display method stop working..

Thanks for your help!

Did you check your display settings from the main PS3 screen?

Did you do a system update recently maybe that reset your display settings?

Yes, I have to do a hard reset to change the settings.

I've tried letting it auto-select component, as well as booting in composite, selecting component, then switching it over quickly. No dice.

Also, this was not the result of an update. It worked, worked, worked, then one day it just had no video. The audio played, but with nothing to accompany it.

Only the component output is affected. It's the most bizarre behavior I've seen from a game console yet.

Same thing happened to me recently. I lost component output, plus HDMI output was
intermittent. Composite out worked. Reset did not work. I measured level on Y component and level was about 25 mV. Way to low. Sent unit back to Sony.

Here is a peply I got from Sony:

Due to high demand, your unit is currently on backorder. The quoted turn-around-time for product exchange through our PlayStation(R) Exchange Center (PEC) is approximately 7-15 business days from the time we receive your unit, not including shipping and handling time. Due to the current backlog the turn-around-time may exceed the quoted 7-15 business days. We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience.
