OK I admit it I'm totaly confused
I've just bought a Panny 50PZ00U (it will come in about 2 weeks) and I hought I'd start educating myself on how to set it up (darn thing has too many settings :) ).
Can someone point me to a resource to educate myself - aside from reading the 1000's of posts here?
TIA

The FAQ's might be a good starting point.
Then look at the 'official' thread for your model of PDP (if there is one).

^ Sure yo got the right model number? I don't think Panny makes a 50PZ00U. Probably missing a 7.
Here's the link to the owners thread. Oh and congratulations.

My typing isn't the best.
My fundamental question is where to begin - which setting do I adjust first, second,...
Picture, contrast, color, .... or what? What's puzzling me is with the list of variables to deal with how do I go about setting up the pq such that it looks best to me?
TIA

EdIf you're new to setting up an HDTV then you might want to pick up something like the Monster/ISF calibration disk. Sure it's cheezy as hell (and plugs Monster at every opportunity) but it really does help make basic adjustments very simple. My technologically challenged bro-in-law bought one when he got his first plasma a while back and it really does make some basic improvements. Just my $.02

it is definitely the pz700u... the pz77u is the anti-glare filter one. just use a calibration disk if you don't want to fork out a couple of benjamins. my $0.02

I believe some DVDs have a basic THX calibration... Monsters Inc comes to mind.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong here.

You don't have to go back to school to know how to operate your tv just coonect you Cable or Satellite box to it and turn on and enjoy it.
EDit: The best setting is factory default setting.

EdI recommend beginning with any of the manufacturer's default settings (other than torch/vivid mode) and make minor adjustments from there to suit your individual tastes.
Another good approach is to see what other Forum members are using for your particular model, throw out the extremes & average the rest.
