I'm no big videophile, just a bit obsessive compulsive when I'm about to put down a couple grand for a non-essential (but fun) item like a TV. Why do most salesmen trash LCDs vs. Plasmas? I'd be inclined to get one since I have a small child and a non-techie wife who may leave the tv on pause by accident. That's why I'd consider a good LCD. But to ask any salesman, its almost like they say that's trash compared to plasma.
Your thoughts?

Your thoughts?Must be where you live/shop - earlier posters have reported the opposite - salesmen pushing LCD over plasma.
My advise is to not worry about what the salesmen say - no matter which technology they push. Read the posts in this forum, read some of the reviews on different sets and then buy what seems right for you and your family. Remember, you and your family arre the ones that need to be pleased, not us or the salesmen.

As a fellow non-videophile, I can tell you that you will enjoy either technology, especially with HD broadcasts and DVD's. My only advice would be to get the biggest screen possible, and decide which picture looks best to YOU.
Have fun.
