I have a new PS3, just purchased Friday. The screen will flicker and I will see a quick flash of the bottom of the screen overlaying the top (like a v-sync problem). Its the same effect as when you have to adjust v-sync on an analog tv.

It is most prevalent when playing the ridge racer demo that I just downloaded.

I have the PS3 connected to an Onkyo 605 receiver via HDMI. The Onkyo has an HDMI out cable to the TV. My HD DVD player works fine without any flicker.

connect the ps3 directly to your tv and also try another cable. If that doesn't work, return it for a new one.

Sounds like the 1080p Onkyo problem, that affected the 604/804/674 Onkyo's Like Goatse said, plug the PS3 straight to the tv, if this gets rid of your problem, then you know it's the Onkyo.

Is there a known issue with the Onkyo 605 that causes this? I was unclear whether Goatse was saying return the PS3 or return the Onkyo...

I'm not at home now, so I can't do the test...

Return the Onkyo or the PS3? I just got this PS3 from WalMart's friday sale, and updated the software as soon as I got it connected. Would this be a known problem with the PS3 that others have had?

return the ps3, if you tried directly connecting to the tv and tried another hdmi cable to rule out everything. It could be the ps3 but I doubt it.

I purchased my PS3 just before christmas, and suffer from the same problem. I have the PS3 connected to a Samsung LNT-4661FX by HDMI and use the optical out for audio going to a Pioneer Elite VSX36TX. I'm experiencing a flicker or lose of signal (displayed on the LCD screen). It's happened 3 times since I've used the PS3 and usually comes right back. My HDMI cable run is rather long (about 25 feet). I dont suspect this is a problem since my satellite uses the same set up(with no problems). Any ideas?
