I have a Pinnacle Wireless HD Streamer, (Hava Wireless HD) Not very happy with it, What are peoples impression of the latest Sony locationfree the VFB-30, or the slingbox pro?
I have 1 HD source, and 1 SD source. I want to stream at 100mbits (hardwired), 54mbit (wifi-g), and internet at 300kbits.

Pros and cons of each device would be much appreciated.

Whats your beef with the Hava ?
I have a Pro and been more than happy with it ... I use it for remote viewing and for PVR.

First over the web streaming is not as smooth as I would like.
Second The software installation could definitely be better.
Third the Aegis secure protocol plays havoc with my wifi access.
Fourth only one IR blaster controller
Fifth severe compression artifacts in my HD lite stream.

Just looking for a better solution, and the other 2 options appear to be the only 2 candidates.

Mine is quite good, I even watch hockey on it ... And locally, it's top notch.

Second The software installation could definitely be better.
The latest update is WAY better and I haven't had a glitch with it.

Third the Aegis secure protocol plays havoc with my wifi access.
I use it wired, I knew that the WiFi version sucked because of it's implementation..

Fourth only one IR blaster controller
I have 2 ?!?
But then again, when you bought the unit, you knew that (it's indicated on the product page)

Fifth severe compression artifacts in my HD lite stream.
I use it on a SD signal, so no down converting is done :(

I got it for something like 150$ at the Hava site, It was the best bang for the buck by far at the time. And what I enjoy the most is the fact that multiple local users can watch the 'current' channel.

BTW, did you upgrade firmware and stream player ?!?

Running the latest firmware and software from the pinnacle site.
I am not saying that it is bad, just I want better if there is such a thing.
Someone must own a sling pro, or a sling solo? or a locationfree box?

Just looking for some owner oppinions.

Additionally maybe a locationfree box in the future can stream to a PS3, That would be excellent.

Well, AFAIK, the only other good/better option is Sling. What I read/heard from the Sony Location free is that it was very bad.
Sling has a good reputation, I would have gotten one if it was not for it's high price and restrictive use (no PVR, encrypted stream) a la Apple.

If I was you, I'd pull the trigger on the Sling if it's only for remote viewing.

Most of the reviews I have read about the Sony are fair to good, not bad. The key feature of the Sony that makes it interesting is that it doesn't have to be hardwired into the router. You can locate it next to your video sources and it will stream through your router located in another room.

Does the Hava AKA Pinnacle allow you to import or customize IR codes? The cable box I have isnt supported by Sling, and I'm thinking of switching to Hava...

Don't buy Sony--they abandon almost every product & technology after a while, versus Hava and Sling whose very livelihoods depend on getting it right for the good of their future.

I have a Hava Platinum HD and am very happy with it--Hava vs. Sling is MPEG2 vs. WMV in a nutshell I think.

The problem is the guy wants to stream over a 300kbs connection! Of course you're going to get "artifacts" and a not so great, experience! Upgrade your internet connection speed !!!!!!! I'm using my Hava at 1Mb upload and it looks awesome! Your HD input gets downconverted to 480i before it gets encoded in the Hava box.. so there's not benefit in having an HD source plugged in it. It's really just one of their marketing twists (not a pretty one, for sure).

I have Pinnacle HD wireless version (i believe its also a Hava HD) got it from Woot $79 :) it works very good over my network. Wireless streams 1.6mbits, remote view does 300kbits and direct connect LAN 6mbits . Only drawback is pinnacle's support site very vague on firmware updates. Currently ver 1.7.0.249 while Hava's up to 1.8.0.
