First, I want to thank everyone that posts. This forum is really informative. Now let's get down to business. I just bought a PS3 and am ready to buy the cables for the install. A guy at BB told me that I needed 1.2 or higher HDMI cables. Is this true and what is the 1.2? I want to hook the PS3 up to one tv in my living room and also run an HDMI cable from the PS3 to a tv in my bedroom. Is it possible to have two tvs hooked up to the PS3? I'll need about 35 feet of cable. Is this too long and what type of HDMI cable should I get? I buy my cables from monoprice. Thanks for your advice.

you will have to get a HDMI splitter. they are not cheap. No, you can't fashion a Y adapter either.
You need a HDMI cable. There's really no difference between the cables of different versions.
35 feet is a long run and you may need a repeater. again, big bucks. for a run that long, you may want to think component video.

Never listen to BB employee's, there is no such thing as an HDMI 1.2 cable. There are cables manufactured with the HDMI 1.3 spec but many will tell you there is no difference between them a regular HDMI cable, myself being one of them, and it's all stupid marketing.
Speaking of 1.3... I called tech support because I was having static on the new insignia tv I bought and had a pc plugged into hdmi1 and the ps3 plugged into hdmi2. One of the questions the support rep asked is if I was using a 1.3 cable? I asked why she would ask that? And she said that the 1.3 cable was not compatible:confused:
Anyway, I have a couple of monoprice 1.3 cables that I've tried and they seem to work just like any other hdmi cable so I'm confused and going to have to dismiss the tech support comment as if she had no clue.
My problem with the insignia 1080p went away when I unplugged my pc which is connect via dvi to hdmi, leaving only the ps3 plugged into an hdmi port and the ps3 looked great no matter which monoprice cable I used on the ps3... but that's another story.

Ya think? Then what exactly is this for $14.30? (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=101&cp_id=10113&cs_id=1011303&p_id=2522&seq=1&format=2)
(*) This is splitter cable. You can only connect one input device (i.e. DVD player, cable box or satellite receiver) to two output device(i.e. TV or projector). You can't connect two input device (i.e. DVD player, cable box or satellite receiver) to one output device(i.e. TV or projector)

That splitter did not work for me. I got flashes and all sorts of problems. The 99$ monoprice thingy does work. Why not just get another ps3 and move it close. You can then have lan and multiplayer fun.

Or, run the HDMI into the TV. Use the TV's VIDEO out to go to the other TV. This has limitations, however...
