I just got Comcast DVR, Hitachi P42T501 plasma TV, Panasonic SA-PT1050 (all in one home theater), and a Panasonic DMR-EZ47V VHS/DVD recorder. Miraculously, its all hooked up and works great... except for all the remotes involved.

I have coded the home theater on the aux button on the Comacast remote and I over-rode the volume control.

I coded the TV to the comcast remote using code 0145. I tried all the other codes I could find ( 0056, 0016,0038, 0151) for Hitachi.

Only 0145 seems to work. So, here's my question:

When I press "TV/VCR" (input) button on the comcast remote, the input screen from the TV displays on the TV Screen. However, I can't figure how to "enter" my choice via the comcast remote.

I can only "navigate" through the input menu on the TV screen by keep pressing the "TV/VCR" button. When I reach my choice no clue on how to "enter" (switch) to my choice.

Also, any cool way to code in the DVD/VHS recorder to the Comcast remote? -Thanks

When I press "TV/VCR" (input) button on the comcast remote, the input screen from the TV displays on the TV Screen. However, I can't figure how to "enter" my choice via the comcast remote.

It seems very few functions are defined in the setup code TV/0145. You need to press the OK/SELECT button to select the input, but that's not programmed in. Do the following to program in the button:

1. Press and release TV device key
2. Press and hold SETUP
3. Type 9 9 4
4. Press and release SETUP
5. Type 0 0 0 8 6
6. Press and release OK/Select

There are other functions you can program in the same manner. For the following functions you want to program in, repeat steps 2-6 above, except enter the code in step 5 and press then button you want to assign that function to in step 6:

Up Arrow = 00133
Down Arrow = 00137
Left Arrow = 00139
Right Arrow = 00135
Aspect = 00074
16:9 Standard = 00200
16:9 Zoom = 00198
4:3 Standard = 00202
4:3 Expanded = 00069
4:3 Zoom 1 = 00073
4:3 Zoom 2 = 00071
Day Setting = 00132
Night Setting = 00136
Virtual HD 540p = 00075
Virtual HD 1080i = 00068
Virtual HD Toggle = 00020
- (Dash) = 00121
Discrete On = 00022
Discrete Off = 00026
Menu = 00107
CC = 00154
Guide = 00152
Select = 00086
PIP = 00229
Info = 00117
Ant A = 00134
Ant B = 00138
Day/Night Toggle = 00230
Ant C = 00005
Video 1 = 00217
Video 2 = 00215
Video 3 = 00219
Video 4 = 00212
Video 5 = 00024
Exit = 00196
Convergence = 00002
Power Toggle = 00122
Input = 00057
Last = 00055
Volume + = 00119
Volume - = 00120
Mute = 00059
Channel + = 00249
Channel - = 00245

The last eight functions are already programmed in the setup code TV/0145, but I included them in just in case. These codes are from a similar Hitachi model, so some functions may not exist in your model, but most should work, including the discrete input, aspect and power codes.

Also, any cool way to code in the DVD/VHS recorder to the Comcast remote?

I realize you already have the HT programmed in the AUX device key, but did you try AUX/0490 for the DVD/VHS recorder? If that works, again there is a way to add any missing functions.

Now the problem is how can you program in 4 devices in a 3 device remote? I did something similar by programming in the TV and cable in the CBL device key, since mostly, only volume, power, input selection and aspect is need on the TV. Then I programmed in HTPC on the TV device key and DVD player on the AUX device.

That can be done by punching in a lot of keys like the procedure above, but it will be tedious, and you can easily get lost in what step you were on. Much easier way would be to buy or build a JP1.2 cable and program the remote on a PC and then hook up the remote to the computer to upload the programming in. If you are interested, you can start learning about it here (http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1009). If you'd rather do it by hand, I can outline the steps for you.

Worked PERFECTLY thanks so much. I am happy with the 3 device connections for now. In the past the VHS recorder was on its own remote anyway.

Thanks again you are awesome... wish I could get these kind of answers at work. Take care.

Kupakai,

Ok... I am having too much fun with the codes. Do you have the codes to program the Comcast remote for the missing Panasonic Home theater system functions?

Specifically, assign a button on the Comcast remote to "jump" forward and backwards the DVD/CD tracks via the panasonic home theater all in one unit (Panasonic SA-PT1050 ) ?

-Thanks!

The codes depend on the setup code you are using. Assuming you are using AUX/1308 or AUX/1518, try
skip- = 03962
skip+ = 04090

If those work or if you post what setup code you are using to get partial function, I can get a fuller list of advanced codes.

I am using code 1907 for Panasonic all in one home theater. Thats what the Comcast remote instructions say to use.

Thanks Kupakai!

Try these codes instead:

F.REW/Skip - = 11432
F.FWD/Skip + = 11368

Maybe you can map that on to channel up and down buttons.

As for other functions, Panasonic is somewhat all over the place depending on the model it seems. Does PAUSE and STOP work for you with the setup code?
Try some of these, but I'm not sure if all of them will work, especially the last couple of ones:

>10 = 11291
DVD = 60927
Tuner/Band = 60447
Disc = 03871
Top Menu = 04079
Cancel = 03899
Play Mode = 11495
Repeat = 04056
Subwoofer Level = 60817
EQ = 44539
Surrond Music = 44854
Dolby PLII = 44151
Sleep = 11347
C. Focus = 45045
Quick Replay = 04075
Ch Select = 60903
Subtitle = 03919
Rev Play = 11354
a-b repeat = 03880
random = 03976
marker = 03855
Sequential = 04039
Display dimmer = 11475
MP3 Album- = 11397
MP3 Album+ = 11269
Discrete ON = 11334
Discrete OFF = 11462

By the way, if you just want to test the codes, there's a way to do it without programming it on to a button first. First go to the correct device mode. Then press and release SETUP. Type in the code. When you press the last digit, the ir signal will be sent, so have the remote pointing to the device. Also, keeping the last digit pressed is like keeping the function pressed, so for repeating commands, like volume, holding the last digit key will repeat.

If some of the codes above do not work, or you need something else, it will be somewhat of a trial and error (but at least not random). Post back what works and doesn't.

Kupakai,

The functions I entered all worked for the home theater.

The pause and stop worked with the 1907 code... so did menu.

I used skip-, skip+, disc, subwoofer, and sequential (haven't checked that one yet). Its getting kinda hard to remember the button functons so I want to keep them to a minimum.

Thank you again. This is very good information.

Kupakai,

OK here's another remote question... hope you are not getting tired of me.

I came across a Hitachi CLU-4371UG2 remote. It has cable, sat, VCR, DVD.

The cable and DVD/VHS recorder worked automatically.

Do you happen to know how to program SAT key to run Panasonic home theater SA-PT1050. I just want to try it out... Thanks

Sorry, I don't know anything about that remote so I can't help you with that. I suspect, thought, that you can't do what you want to do with that remote, since the manual does not mention anything about reassigning device type to SAT device mode, and has very limited setup codes. It also does not have the feature of adding functions without learning using advanced codes that I've been giving you. That's a feature unique to remotes made by UEI (like the Comcast remote).

Thanks... I'm OK with the Comcast remote for now. Might move up to a Harmony 520 in the future. Thanks for all your help and knowledge.
