I have a Toshiba 42H81 TV and when I play Xbox 360 games in 1080i the TV cuts out the outermost part of the game I'm playing. I wasn't really aware of why it was doing this until someone mentioned it was overscan. Is there anyway I can fix this issue so I can see everything on my TV screen? Thanks.

is it cutting off HUDs?
if not, I wouldn't worry about it. My CRT RP HDTV overscan hides a portion of the image, but it's not enough to make a difference. Most games are designed to not put important things on the very edge of the picture.

Usually this is an adjustment that can only be made in the service menu, which you should be very careful messing around in.
I'm assuming you're using component; if it's an option, try vga or hdmi if you can as the amount of overscan typically varies by input.
Also, go over to the display forums and search for threads about your set, there might be some info there about adjusting your overscan.

If your TV doesn't offer a zero overscan setting in a menu, your best bet is to try VGA.
VGA is *never* overscanned.
Of course, not all HDTVs support native resolution over VGA. If yours doesn't there really isn't much left to try.

OP, if your display's OS is that far out of whack (testing with AVIA would be a start), an ISF Cal may be your only hope (which it really should be done anyways, for optimum PQ).

I have the same Tosh 42h81. I have overscan issues as well, but not enough to make me change it as of yet. You can find how to assess the service menu on here i believe.

It really isn't that much of a problem. Like Nebraskarrt said it isn't a big issue but I'd still like to fix it and was wondering if there was a solution. The only thing that the screen cuts off that is important is in some shooters, for example, I can't fully see how much ammo I have. My buddy has the 50 inch version of the same Toshiba and his doesn't do it so I don't know.
