Hi. I would like some advice as to what I need in my setup. I currently have an lcd mounted above a fireplace. I then have an enclosed a/v cabinet about 10 feet to the right. I would like to buy a universal remote such as the harmony 659 (among others) but all the ones I like don't have RF capability. So is my only option IR? How would I accomplish this if I don't want a wire going from the tv to the cabinet? Specifically, how sensitive is the "eye"... must it be pointed directlt at it?

Thanks.

Unless you absolutely want to control the TV via RF, you don't need to run an emitter to it. You can use an IR repeater system like the Hot Link Pro for the components in the cabinet off to the right and control the TV directly via IR. Or, with an IR/RF universal remote, control the components in the cabinet via RF and the TV via IR. It doesn't have to be one or the other.

okay, so if i only use the ir for the components in the cabinet, will i still have to directly point the remote to the "eye" or is it sensitive enought that it will pickup it up if i point it directly to the tv (cabinet is about 10' to the right of the tv).

thanks.

I can't speak for other IR repeater systems, but the Hot Link Pro's IR receiving eye is sensitive enough to pick up just about any IR in the room.
