I am thinking of selling my Premium to a co-worker and upgrading to the Elite. Does anyone know how I would go about transferring everything over to the Elite?

Call MS and have them send you a transfer cable.

You will need to be connected to LIVE in order to play any downloaded games.

Will that be a forever thing? I take my 360 with me a lot and there isn't always a connection.

Unless you want to spend hours on the phone with MS to get points refunded for buying again. One of the few complaints I have about the system.

My save game from COD4 would not work in the campaign on a different machine. Not sure why they locked it down. I could not progress to the next level in the single player campaign.

After you get your elite, you either mail or fax this form:http://assets.xbox.com/en-us/support/MigrationKit-OrderForm.pdf

They send it really fast. Anything you download after getting the elite will work fine. It's any previous stuff on your hard drive that won't work unless connected to live. The live arcade games default to demo mode. The games are linked to the machine they're downloaded on.

All you have to do is redownload what you had if you don't want to use the cable. Your live games and purchases like maps etc are apart of your account not deadlocked to the hardrive. Unless you have rented a movie that you have to watch in so much time the process is really not that difficult. I originally upgraded to an Elite and never used the transfer cable. I took the Elite back and got the Halo 3 edtion model and again had no problems redownloading any of my stuff.

Yep, basically no other way around it. I went through the process once to get all my points back and repurchase all my XBLA games (after they sent me a refurb).....it was rough...literally hours on the phone plus some call backs from MS.

I recently bought an Elite (after my refurb's DVD drive went screwey) and have just resigned myself to the fact that I'll have to always be connected.

You can try to call up and request a license transfer for all your Live arcade games but it is taking people months to get that if they can get it at all. Until MS solves this DRM debacle we're stuck.

Or you tell your co-worker he really really needs to upgrade the HD and tell him to get a 120GB drive....then do an even swap out. Put your drive from your old X on the new X.

I did a BB replacement for an Elite today. I used the memory card to get my saves, I was disappointed that I could not backup my Xbox1 games though.
