View Full Version : Ring Of Death!!!
Jeeze Ive had this thing for a YEAR! Just now going bad... but thank gosh since my warranty ends on the 25th...
Pisses me off though... if I had the choice id change it out for a PS3 not because I really want a PS3 but just because the 360's are total crap for build quality. Can you believe they spend so much money making them then they tear up and they spend twice the money and time fixing them.
Whats the point in them releasing another console ANY time in the next 5 years if they can't have one that works right now?
TRALFAZ 12-12-07, 09:41 PM Sorry for you but on the bright side, 3 year warranty on RRoD and for future reference... stickies are your friend. :)
3 yr warranty what do you mean? It says I only got one year according to their website and I never paid any more for warranties.
I read the sticky but it certainly didn't fix my box :(
Daekwan 12-12-07, 09:58 PM Warranty is 3 years dude.. stop talking start reading..
Plenty of information here about it. There is a sticky.. meaning a permanent thread about the Rings at the top of the Xbox forum. You will find more than enough info in there.
Yep, don't worry about it, MS has your back. All Xbox 360's from launch have a 3 year warrenttee (MS did that sometime last year). The only answer that I do not have is if MS sends you a replacement with a current mfg date of 12/07 for example, then is the wareenttee another 3 years?
PS just call 1800-4myxbox, and they will handle everything (ie they will send you an empty box with return shipping lable, just drop at any UPS and hopefully in 2 weeks it will be back at your door).
Daekwan 12-12-07, 10:04 PM Deven I believe its from 3 years of your original purchase.
Apparently everyone who is telling me to read the sticky hasn't read it themselves seeing how it doesnt say squat about a warranty length.
But...does the warranty renew after they fix it because it could tear up like in another year or two...
I think its ridiculous that so many Xboxs tear up... They shouldnt even have to HAVE red lights on the dang thing... they shud build it right to begin with.
bkchurch 12-12-07, 10:16 PM Yea but does the warranty renew after they fix it because it could tear up like in another year or two...

The warranty is one year, the RRoD warranty is three years. Yes the warranty will apply to your replacement box which will most likely brick within a month. Yes the 360 has serious design flaws. O and yes Kyser should be along shortly to lock this because there is a sticky this belongs in.

Are you on crack? You want to trade a 360 in for a PS3 cuz "the 360's are total crap for build quality"? Yeah trade it in for the total crap in game library quality. That would be a smooth move. Stop crying and get your console fixed and get back to gaming.
Yea you guessed it I'm on crack... I don't really care about a PS3 but at least if I got a PS3 I would not have to worry about a silly ring of death. PS3 library is arguable, but I'm not gonna argue it.
Deven I believe its from 3 years of your original purchase.
That means that the serial numbers must be tied in with each other, (I sent in my console 6/06 mfg date, and got one back with 11/07 date with a different serial number) oh well, hopefully it will not be an issue, but the only comment I have to make is that I bought the console 11/06, even though the mfg date was 6/06, and I never sent them a receipt to show the date I purchased it. Hopefully it will not come back to haunt me.

Here it comes let's start a flame war over which console is better folks, all the cool kids are doing it.

celluloideyes 12-12-07, 11:41 PM honestly--do we really need a new thread every time someone gets the RRoD? seriously...I'm sorry it happened to you, but we don't need a new thread about it..not trying to be mean
Just to restate:
There is NO 3 year Warranty!!!
Again - There is NO 3 year Warranty!!
You have 3 years of protection against RROD from the day they announced the policy change. Once again. This is ONLY for RROD.
Warranty and a free fix when you get RROD are two different things. If you have ANY other problems, and you have not bought an extended warranty, and your outside of your 1 year manufacturer warranty, then you have to pay to get the machine fixed.

BUKHUMYAI 12-13-07, 12:35 AM Ok PPL lets switch it up a bit..how would I go about creating the RRoD. Thats right I want to get mine fix. I got the dreaded audio but no video prob and yes I have used the towel trick but that just temporary. Called Xbox and they wont fix it unless I pay 99 bucks or if its RRoD. O and for anyone that cares I have 2 360's and one is on the way to get fixed cause of the RRoD and the other was already fixed once cause of the RRoD and now has the video issues. So I need to create the RRoD in a manner that MS will fix it. I believe I deserve that much from them.
random tek hed 12-13-07, 03:48 AM Yep, don't worry about it, MS has your back.
If "MS has got your back" involves sodomy, I totally agree with you.
Seriously, RROD stuff should be posted in the huge sticky thread.

Um, wrap it in something non-flammable that traps heat really well then leave it running in a warm room until it red rings? Probably not safe but you could try.
Kysersose 12-13-07, 08:22 AM Use the sticky.
