I have a real quick question, before the last update, My hd add on was working great,I had sent it(xbxo 360 console) in to repair , It returned before the update, I waited until after to install the software, but on the players blade I cannot get the 360 to show where the HDDVD player should be. I followed all directions and trouble shooting, but still no go. Is anyone else having this problem? any advice is well appreciated. On the xbox forums there are several people asking the same question, but no answer.

So it doesn't show in the lower half of the circle at the bottom when you highlight it? And it doesn't show in the system blade of attached devices? (I think it is also listed there).
No, I haven't had issues with mine since the dash update, but I haven't had to install it since, either. Are you using the original disc or the updated file from xbox website?
If it is visible, maybe clear the add-on's memory.
Maybe the HD DVD player forum area could help. Try posting there and link back to this thread. Sorry to hear you are having a hard time with it.

I was using the original disc that came with the player, I did clear the cache but nothing works. I will follow your advice thanks

Any ideas on this problem?
Does the HD-DVD player work if you plug it into a different USB port? I had my rear port crap out earlier this year and the player wouldn't work when plugged in there. It worked fine when I plugged it into one of the front ports. Might be worth a try.
Have you tried plugging it into a different USB port? I blew a USB port on a previous xbox and the drive could not be seen.
Eventually, I discovered that the same blown port, blew the USB controlled on the HD drive as well. I had to get it replaced.

Any ideas on this problem?
Follow the advice above and try different USB ports. Also, I try unpluging/repluging all cables.
Also, just wait for a few mintues. Several minutes if necessary.

Yeah I tried all the above mentioned, It seems like it is a software problem, but when I called MS Japan, on friday, they picked up the HD player and sent it in for repair, I dont know why, because a quite a few people are having this issue occur after this update.

For informational purposes, I would add that I haven't had any problems with the add-on after updating to the fall firmware on two different consoles.
