I keep trying to play COD4 Multiplayer with friends/family and I keep getting this error. "Error - Cannot connect to server"

I can play online by myself with no problems. When someone sends me an invite to join a party about half the time I can accept it, half the time I get that error. Even on the occasions when I do join a party as soon as we search for a match I get dropped and get that error.

If I invite people I can invite 1 sometimes 2 but never anymore. This even fails sometimes.

My Xbox is connected via Cat5 and I have placed it in the DMZ to see if that would help. Well you can guess by me posting this that I still get those errors. I have run network tests on the xbox and I get all pass with "Open" for connection type. I have run speed tests on my network connection and it is running fine. I also get more than 3 green bars on my xbox connection indicator.

Anyone have any idea I can try to fix this?

I find it extremely cruel of Xbox to get me addicted to this video game version of crack and then give me supply problems!! :-)

OT - What is the "difficult choice" you have to make at "Elite" ? I am approaching this and I would like to be able to make the decision quickly once I get there...

at "prestige" i made the easy choice of starting over, twice. Its so much fun to keep leveling up and being prestige separates you from everyone else. sorry i don't know how to help you with your connection problems, maybe check out the official forums at charlieoscardelta.com (cod get it?) they might be of a little more use with a problem such as yours.

The problem I think is that you need to be at the Xbox live screen on CoD4 when accepting the game invite. If you are at the dashboard, or if you are on the main page, I too have been getting this error. Similarly, if the party joins a game, it might be to late for you to join, thus, you get the error.

I still get that error message.

Any other ideas? It is aggravating that I can't play in a party greater than 2 people!

I get the same error. Only way I can play with friends is host. Are we in the minority who have problems?

What router are you using? Maybe our routers dont work well with the Xbox. I have a DLink wbr 2310.

Yeah, sounds like a router issue. Try connecting directly from your modem to your Xbox and see if you're still having issues.

Im using the dsl modem/router that came from AT&T. Never had a problem with it before. Funny that I can play if I host but I can't except an invite. I wonder if the upcoming patch will fix this. A "class conflict" error of some sort that may occur and boot players is being fixed. Wonder if this is our problem?
