Hi :) This is my first post on the forum and im not sure if this is the right forum or not but it has to deal with my cable reception so i figured it would go here.Basically in my bedroom the cable isnt so great(atleast i think its cable). I currently have a 37inch Phillips LCD that seems to have bad cable reception. The picture shows up but it has a blue snow-like flicker on all of the channels. I had prior tvs which included a20inch crt anda 26inch lcd that all worked fine on this line. I just got a Philllips DVDR3575 and had the cable line plugged in through the in and it had the same effect as the tv does justalotless. now when i put the output to the TV..its basically unwatched able. almost no picture comesin for some reason. I had a splitter that i tried out with power pass through. i used the DVD player connected through the power pass through and the picture is basically perfect. i tried the tv through the power pass through and it didnt do much to help at all so i hooked it up through the out connection on the DVD plyaer and it was working almost as good as the dvd player except its seemed to have gone back to being blue-snow flicker again. The dvd player still comes in relatively perfect though so im really not sure what it is. I hope i explained this well enough and can get some answers. If i had to i can run the phillips constantly but with it having an internal hard drive i'd rather not put excessive wear on the drive(i hear it runs constantly)...dont understand why it would work fine on the TV..then i get done playing a dvd and it goes back to being the blue snow flicker..oh and btw i never made any changes and i checked all the cables and everythings tight with nothing being lose.

Edit: So i just turned the TV on and its back to having a good picture again..any idea what can be the cause of this? any solutions?

If I had to guess from my experiences, I would say that you either have a bad coax cable running from the wall plate to the TV, or the RF tuner on the new TV is faulty.

You can:

1> Try a new coax cable (that meets cable company standards and not the "cheap retail store crap").

2> Run the coax cable feed into the DVD player, and run a set of composite cables (yellow, red, and white) from the DVD player to the TV. Then set the TV to "video 1" (or whatever the input's called), and use the DVD player's tuner to watch TV and change channels (after running the DVD player through it's auto program).

3> Try another TV at the same location to see if the picture is better on that TV.

4> Don't waste anymore time on it, and call your local cable company to send a service tech to repair it correctly. It doesn't cost as much as you think it does. We charge $24.95 for a service call, but if a new coax cable outlet needs to be installed, then that is extra, but I doubt that's the problem.
