Hi all, sorry if this has been asked umpteen times before, but for some reason I couldn't find anything via a search.

Here's what I'm trying to set up:

I have a bunch of karaoke songs in DivX .AVI format, burnt to a DVD, that I want to play via my DivX player. The player is hooked up to the DVD input on my Yamaha HTR stereo receiver of course, and I've got the basic 5.1 speaker setup. I can play the karaoke songs on the DVD without any problem right now--the video appears, and the audio plays (without vocals of course).

I also have two mics (cheapo ones....stereo cable, not XLR) that I want to use for the karaoke end of things. I'm trying to figure out how to get the receiver to play sounds from different inputs simultaneously. I could connect the mics to different inputs on the receiver easily enough, but then how do I get the receiver to send sound from BOTH mic inputs AND the DivX player input to the speakers?

Or is this impossible, and I need to do it completely differently? Ideally I'd run the mics through a mixer, but I don't have one unfortunately.....

Thanks,
Dave

i think you are going to need something like a mixer to get the audio from the mics and the audio from the dvd together before they go into the receiver, i am no expert but i dont think most receivers are made for mics.
