hello kinda new to the site just woundering instead of spending 49.99 on the microsoft hdmi cable what would the diff be if i bought 1 from say monoprice.com? any help with this would be great!

The MS one comes with the audio dongle, used for running audio seperately to a reciever. If you're reciever supports audio over HDMI, or you are using your TV speakers, then you don't need it.

Also, there are mods you can make to the standard component dongle which will allow you to use an inexpensive monoprice cable. Basically, you just have to pop the plastic case off the component version and a standard hdmi cable will fit into it's slot underneath. Then you can use the optical out of the component donlge for audio...if you don't have hdmi audio capabilities of course.

;) I agree. I've used the one from monoprice to watch my downloaded movies. No difference noticable PQ or AQ problems when hooked up through my HDMI receiver.

great thanks for all the help just ordered 6ft hdmi from monoprice for 7 bucks so u guys saved me $43 thanks guys!! oh and ne web site that shows how to switch that plug from my componet cable?
