I am trying to choose a new a/v reciever with hdmi 1.3a and nothing seems to suit as one aspect of each I consider troubles me. If I can bypass the upscaling function in the receiver I could just buy one that is desirable as far as gui and other functons are concerned. I have a PS3 and don't know how, or if it is possible, to somehow feed the my cable tv signal into it directly with the hope it will upscale the signal as it does for dvd's. If the receiver I choose, like the Sony 5300, has upsupscaling problems I would like to have a plan B. If the receiver has problems in upscaling is it possible to hook my coaxial to the reciever and send it out unscaled{no black crush?} through hdmi to the PS3 for upscaling? The audio would need to be sent out from the receiver to the speakers of course. Any input will be helpful.
