I searched and found nothing related to this problem so I apologize if this has been addressed. I have a tvix4000 and a usb WD My Book which contains my media (movies and pictures). Everything works well and I love the tvix!

The problem is when I hook the My Book to my pc to delete the movies that I have watched the computer won't let me do it. It seems the tvix has locked the files on the My Book so they can't be deleted when hooked to a pc. I can delete them thru tvix using the del key on the remote when the My Book is hooked to the tvix. I know that the tvix is doing something because I can delete files on the My Book using my pc that I have not viewed on the tvix.

Does that make sense???

This may not be the answer to your problem, but are the files read only protected? I have the my book and havnt had a problem, but I also have mine connected to my PC and I stream them off of it using the NetShare Software

They are read only protected but when I try to uncheck that it does not take... i.e. after unchecking it and selecting apply, if I go in and view properties it is still checked for read only.

I am able to delete them using the tvix so I have been doing that for now but I would like to figure out why this is happening.

How did you place the files on the drive in the first place? Was it under a different account or with a different computer? It sounds like you do not have the proper privileges to modify and delete the files.

The TVIX doesn’t care about privileges and if a file exists will delete it. The TVIX also does not modify files in any way, if you look at the modify date on a file after the TVIX has played it, it has not changed.

Try logging on to you computer with an admin account and then removing account based privileges off of the files/directories along with the read only flag.
