I'm sure some of you have extended service plans with other companies. I am receiving the RROD and am wondering is it better to go with my vendor service plan or Microsoft's? I guess the real question is which is faster and which is more likely to get you a new system.

Hi Daniel,

There's already a large thread on the "RROD" up at the top of the page. You will most likely not get a new system with either route you take (i.e., you'll likely get a refurb). My advice: Buy a new 360 with Best Buy's performance plan, get your broken one fixed at the lowest cost possible, and put it on eBay when you get it back. Personally, I'd try to get a new Falcon unit (look for a 175 watt rating on the box), even though there's no evidence yet that these units are more reliable than the older units (but it's worth a shot!). I also read somewhwere that Best Buy is having some sort of sale on 360's this weekend, but I don't know if this information is accurate or what the sale includes.

Cheers!
