OK, this is my quid pro quo thread. You guys helped me a ton with your pictures and ideas over the last year, so I thought I'd share the results. Goals for this room were as "clean" an install as possible, Plasma + Sound, while still maintaining very good 2-channel audio, perhaps 2.1 or even 5.1 down the road.

Yes, I know I still need to mount one wall plate for the 1 speaker cord. Also, I may go to a clear/copper speaker wire. Finally, my Oppo DVD player is not here yet, it will go on top of or below the Cable box. I decided against IR repeaters because I like to see the displays and in-wall speakers for sound quality reasons. Also, the picture makes it look slightly off level, but everything was leveled with a bubble level.

Equipment list:
Panasonic TH50PX77U
Premier AM3B mount
Motorola HD cable box
Oppo 980H (not yet arrived)
Cary Audio Cinema 6 Pre/Pro
B&K Ref 4420 Amp (on the other side of the wall)
Energy RC-30 Speakers
Omnimount MWFS wall shelves with extra 18" shelf
Monster power strip

Looks nice - I really like the component shelf.

I was curious, though, why you didn't place the speaker cable faceplates directly behind the speaker location to hide the cables?

nice setup, but wont having the speakers that close to one another affect the stereo imaging?

Looks good, but I would widen the distance between the L & R speakers.

nice clean install there. good job.

1) as others have mentioned, i'd try to kick the l/r speakers a bit farther apart from one another. at the very least, get them outside the frame of the display.

2) as much as i'd hate to cover up that beautiful floor (i love hardwood floors), i'd try to get some carpeting all the way up to the speakers. the way it's set up is likely to cause some *interesting* reflections.

Thanks all, and all great suggestions.

The reason for the speaker plates being where they are is I needed to stay within 1 stud space of center on both sides. I'm very much an amateur at construction so I really did not want to rip off the baseboard and notch studs! I agree, they ideally would be further apart or even coming up from the floor! I'm hoping a clear jacketed copper wire will blend in with the wood better. Good suggestion though for someone getting ideas for their own project. Or perhaps if I have a Pro in here for another reason, I'll add that as a side project.

As for the speakers being where they are, I agree. Until I get my Oppo DVD player and can run all my SPL tests and sample tracks, I don't know where they are going to end up. They are not in their final placement. Also, currently the Christmas tree on the left currently limits my placement width.

To the point about reflections...I'm afraid there is nothing I can do about that which will pass the WAF. You cannot tell from the picture, but at least from the seating position the primary floor reflection point is hitting the rug. That existing rug is brand new and how I bargained for something other than in-walls so I cannot change it. Another issue to that point is rear ported speakers should not be that close to the wall. Again, I have major WAF to contend with in this room. I have port plugs so if I can sneak in a sub somewhere....:)

I do have another system downstairs where there are fewer restrictions (B&K, Studio 100's, SVS, etc...)

Hi Steve,

I liked your set up so much, I went and bought the same omnimount mwfs unit. However I'm struggling with the installation. The instructions hint towards tying the metal brackets together with the machine screws provided. However when I do that, the faceplates do not fit correctly.

Did you install the brackets together or did you install each bracket individually spaced apart to get the look of one solid piece?
