I'm currently a TWC customer, but have decided to investigate Dish Network in order to get the Big Ten Channel. (Direct TV seems to have to much of an upfront cost to switch).

- When I sign up for Dish is their any advantage to calling Dish direct or should I go through a online retailer? What retailer do you recommend?
- Is it better to get an OTA for local HD channels? Will they install this for free?
- I am roughly 40 miles away from the stations. All of them are UHF except ABC which is VHF. What type of antenna do you recommend – I’ll put it in my attic?

If going with Dish I would try to get find someone with Dish services already so you could get the ClubDish Discount. And it's prob better to contact dish instead of a third party.

You get free activation (normally $49.99) and your friend or family gets $5 off thier bill for 10 months. :) If you dont know anyone let me know and I'll be glad to help.

I would only pay for the locals if I couldn't get them free OTA. You should be able to receive the locals with a good outside directional antenna.

I had dish network, but on a very bad mistake, went to DirecTV. BIG mistake and I'll be going back to Dish when my 2 year contract is up in Oct 08.
