I'm having a hard time figuring out how to set the box up to automatically change HD formats (720p &/or 1080i) when I change channels. I can only change the video settings manually, which is annoying. I had an DirecTV HD DVR before and I set it up to change automatically. For instance, when I changed the channel to ABC, which broadcasts in 720p, the DVR box automatically sent the 720p signal to the TV. Or, if I was watching NBC, which broadcasts in 1080i, it would send the 1080i signal to the tv. I guess what I'm saying is, I want the box to automatically change to the station's native HD format, either 720p or 1080i. Can anybody help me with this? Thanks.

That "native" feature is not support on Motorola boxes from any cable company. You've got to convert all 720p channels to 1080i or all 1080i channels to 720p.

If you want native output with FiOS, you've to buy a high-definition CableCard DVR like the Tivo.

wow that stinks. are there others that complain about that on this forum?Yes, it affects most Comcast users as well, since 80+% of their DVRs are Motorola. Dish Network doesn't offer native output on their DVRs either.

DirecTV, Tivo, and Scientific Atlanta are the only companies to offer that "all native" output option on their HDTV DVRs.
