I'm currently shopping for a new tv for my bedroom (I would be sitting about 5 feet from the set) and I can't decide which model would be best for me. They both have good reviews and are in the same price range but have different features so it's hard to make a decision. I definitely want a 1080P model though since I plan on keeping the tv for a long time.

I would mostly watch HDTV, DVDs, Blu-ray discs and HD-DVDs, some regular tv and possibly use it as a computer monitor (not sure about that though so it's not an important feature for me).

The only thing that worries me about getting a plasma is possible burn-in. I tend to leave the tv on while I'm doing other things around the house and I would be scared of the possible damage black bars or a station logo could cause?

What do you guys think?

Anyone?

I'm really tempted by the Panasonic but the burn in/image retention scare me. I watch a lot of SD content during the day, would I have to zoom in or stretch the 4:3 image to avoid those issues?

I'm looking at the sizes up from you:

Panasonic TH50PZ77U plasma
Samsung FPT5084 Plasma
Samung LNT4665F LCD
Sharp Acquos LC52D62U LCD

It's hard to decide with so many different models. I wonder if we over think these decisions.

"possibly use it as a computer monitor"

I would probably stay with the LCD if you have intention of using it as a monitor due to the possible risk of burn in.

given that this is going to be for the bedroom, viewing angle should not be an issue and i would probably go with the LCD. the panasonic 1080p plasmas also suck up quite a bit of power.

hope that helps.
