I'm looking into what sub to get for my living room. The room is 13x18 with 9 foot ceilings. (2106 cubic feet) It also has a 4 foot wide cased opening on the opposite side from the main listening area as well as a opening into the hallway.
The two main subs that I am looking at since they are in my price range are the HSU VTF2 MK3 and the SVS PB10-NSD. I looked into eD but not really impressed with the finish on their subs or the lead time for building.
So I guess my main question is will these level of subs be enough for my room and if not any suggestions will be welcomed.
Thanks!
Edit: the sub will be used almost exclusively for home theater use

Ask ED to send it to you unfinished (bare wood) then paint it however you like..Don't sacrifice the sound, thats my personal ideology

Basshead? The Pb10 may not be enough with openings to other rooms unless it's in the near field. I have two PB10. I would get the PB12 or the Vft3-3. Or see if you like Epiks finish on the Knight. If your not a bass head then your choices would be fine IMO
Not a complete basshead. I am upgrading from a 120 HTIB so I figure anything is gonna be a vast improvement from what im used to hearing. And I suppose if one isn't enough its not that hard to upgrade to two subs further down the line.
When you refer to nearfield do you mean near the main listening area? I don't know if the placement I have in mind is ideal but what I have in mind would put the subwoofer right next to the couch and in a corner.
Thanks for the comments so far.

Hummm that sounds like nearfield.:) Would be plenty right next to you if you're not a complete basshead. Coming from htib it's going to sound alot different but better. Outlaw is having a good sale also another sub to look at. Pb10 is a good entry level basshead sub enought to get you to want more and more so just get the ultra or Conquest now  :)

I have been looking into SVS as well for my ~3300 cubic foot room, and I emailed SVS with the dimensions of the room and they recommended the PB12-NSD for my room, but I am a bit of an SPL freak :D Sounds to me like the PB10-NSD would work fine, but you can always contact SVS...their e-mail address is techsupport@svsound.com. I sent them a diagram of my floorplan with measurements and they got back to me within 24 hours or so.
