Tonight I decided to make my first video marketplace "rental" and downloaded Transformers in HD. In the description it listed the audio as Dolby Digital 5.1.

Once I fired up the movie my receiver kicked to straight stereo mode. I've tried to change the audio but it doesn't appear to contain a DD track. My question is do any Marketplace movies come with DD tracks?

the audio actually used on movies is WMA Pro 5.1... but the 360 takes care of the output it.

just wondering but have you verified that you have the correct settings in the audio section of the 360 (in the settings blade). mine has never had a problem giving me the 5.1 audio properly. i didnt rent transformers myself but all paramount hd movies i have gotten have had a 5.1 track so the movie should have had 5.1 audio.

what model receiver do you have?

jagouar,

Thanks for the information. I went into Console Settings and changed my setting from DD to DD with WMA Pro 5.1. When I rebooted the console and restarted the movie I still get just stereo output on my Pioneer 92TXH receiver.

Anyone else have any tips?

Either of those settings will work fine for videos with 5.1 tracks, but if the video only has a stereo track it will only output stereo regardless of what settings you use. Some videos on the marketplace are misslabled, it seems Transformers is one of them.

Kyle,

That's what I feared. I wouldn't have rented Transformers had it been properly labled as stereo. One of the main reasons I wanted to watch it on my HT was the great 5.1 track.

Given this bad experience with the XBL Video Marketplace I doubt I'll rent anything else from there.

that was kind of my point... ive never seen a paramount hd movie that didnt come with a 5.1 track (new ones especially). the only ones that had problems was the older disney stuff (which had 2.0 tracks).

that said i didnt get transformers off the marketplace since i have the hd-dvd but it doesnt make sense they would not include a 5.1 track on that movie.
