My setup is Panasonic (1080p) 2 hdmi ports
Cable Reciever 1 hdmi port
Toshiba HD-a3 1hdm1 port
PS3 – 1 hdmi
And a Yamaha HT6060 with 2 HDMI in ports and 1 out.

My initial though is to run my Cable Reciver directly into the tv, PS3 directly into my Yamaha receiver, HD-a3 player into the Yamaha as well, and the HDMI output from my Yamaha directly back into my second port on my tv.

Does the way I am think of setting it up, sound like I can get away from a switcher, or am I overlooking something that may not worker causing me to need a hdmi switcher? I will be ordering from monoprice shortly for and cable, just trying to fiugre out if im gonna need a switch as well to get everything running properly with sound an hdmi.

You're plan will work, you will need a digital audio cable from the cable STB to the AV receiver for sound though.

That wouldnt be a problem, just wondering if that would be needed though. Right now I have an older receiver, and my cable stb to my tv, hd-dvd to the tv and the only thing to my reciever is an optical from the tv. I get sound on both devices.

Thanks for the info though, i guess I wont be buying a switch :)

Your TV most likely can only pass 2 channels of audio through it, to get DD 5.1 on channels it's available on you need to go straight from the STB to AV receiver.
