I want full-HD and i will upscale to 1080p through my htpc, so i dont care about image processors.
I will be using it mostly for SD tv and hdtv in the future.
I will be using it also for movies for a couple of years before getting a projector.

I think Sony LCDs are the only decent ones as far as PQ goes.
But for about the same price i can get the Panny PZ 42". Panasonic plasmas are also my favourites and not overpriced (such as pioneer).

The screen must have 1:1 pixel mapping and possibly a built-in hdtv decoder (the sony has).

What should I take? A direct comparison is a bit difficilt, but i'm trying to find a place with both models playing the same (HD) source.

For movie watching there is no question for me...plasma all the way. I recently got a Panasonic TH-42PZ77U and I love it. If you have good control of your lighting the TH-42PZ700U may be better for you. I don't know if the model numbers/features are the same for Italy but my set has NTSC (SD) ATSC (HD) and QAM (unscrambled digital cable) tuners built in.
