My hdmi port broke while I was moving my projector. I am currently trying to get panasonic to gix it under warranty but I do not know if they will or not. Heartland said it will cost 700 to fix it because they have to replace the entire board. My question is what would you guys do. The projector works great with the component cables. Can you have HD DVD using component cables? If you can I was thinking I would just purchase a cable switch and use my cable and dvd with the projector that way. I just am not sure if it is worth it to pay 700 to fix it if I can find other ways to use. Any imput would be great, Thank you.

pop out the board and asses the damages, probably just need to do some fancy soldering to the connector.

the damage is external, the plastic part inbetween the pins is broken and you can not connect a cable anymore. Heartland said they use to just replace the port but it did not work very well so they started to replace the entire board.

Go with component it will still look great - 700 way too much

For that price I would buy a new unit , Use the component video cables it will still pass an hd-dvd signal just fine, but regular dvds won't be upscaled unless you watch backups.
