Long time lurker, first time poster:
I have an issue with the rear speaker placement on my home theater room.
Facts:
-The room is 25x14x9. The first 18 Feet serves as a Den. The last 7 serve as an office.
-The Wife unit has mandated the use of inwall speakers.
-The back wall (opposite from the TV) has two windows. Both windows start -20 inches from each side of the room. and are ~30 inches wide.
-Speakers in question are Polk RC-65i and a 7.1 configuration is desired.
I was trying to follow Dolby's recommendations and ran into a snag with the rear speakers. In order to get the speakers within the proper radius in relation to the sweet spot, I would have to put them in that 20 inches between the windows and the walls. Unfortunately the maximum space between studs is too small for my inwalls. The same holds true for above the windows. That leaves me with the ~3 feet in between the windows to put my speakers. Which is WAAAY out of spec seeing how the speakers will basically be 15" off center axis for the room on both sides. I don't think that's enough for accurate stereo imaging.. much less to act as rear surrounds.
So the questions I have are:
1. Is this fine? Will it work o.k.
2. If not, can I do any tricks with the directional tweeter to make this work?
3. Can any provide any other ideas to make this work?
Thanks for reading this,
Keith
