Can anyone here tell me if I am ruining the projector when I do the following:

I have an infocus 4805 projector. Love it. I turn it on with the power button when I use it.then when I am done, I turn it off as well with the power button and walk away.

Should I be soft powering it down only and leave it running ?

What is the correct thing I should be doing.

Nope, you are fine. In fact, you SHOULD use the power button once you are done for the evening.

Soft power down is recommended when you will be viewing again soon as it runs through a cool down cycle.

If you look for the unofficial X1 FAQ you'll find a discussion of this. It's better to power down something and let it cool naturally as opposed to speed-cooling it with a fan. Makes for longer lamp life.
