I am seemed to be confused between the two. What is the difference between the two? I am getting ready to install a HT system in my house and was wondering if there are any advantages/disadvantages for using Banana Plugs on a receiver? Thanks

"Connector", IMO, generally refers to the part(s) installed on the ends of the cables.

"Interconnect", IMO, refers to the complete cable assemblies used to connect two pieces of gear (typically) conveying line/low level signals.

The biggest advantage I see of banana plugs is easier to connect/disconnect after they've been installed on the cables. Important to me only if the gear is moved often.

The biggest disadvantage I see is that some can be pulled out relatively easily - and they're added cost for something that doesn't provide any real benefit (to me).

Great Thanks. So in my situation i ran speaker wires in the walls for speakers before finishing the basement. Should i use anything to connect it to the receiver or am i better off wiring directly in to the receiver. Thanks

Whether or not you are better off depends on if you need the convenience of bananas. If not, I say connect directly.

Just be careful that you don't have any of the fine strands of wire from one wire touching another terminal or touching the case of the receiver. That's really no different than if you were wiring up any other type of connection - it's just a precaution one takes.
