I contacted Customer service as a ''Legacy User' which means I have been filling their coffers for about 15 years (memory is shot). Their offer for a new H21 receiver plus 5 LNB antenna ,the larger one ,not Slimline, plus installation was $199. Is this OK by historical standards, the DTV girl said it was under the $299 normally offered.?? Since the antenna itself is about $99 and the receiver, with DTV,is about $299 it sounds OK to me. I see however that this antenna is discontinued-what is a suitable replacement for better signal strength during rain/snow fade.
Thanks

The slimline is the AU9S. The older one is the AT9 but I can't believe anyone would still be installing them.

The "deal" she quoted you is the standard deal for new customers if they were getting a HR21 HD/DVR. The H21 is HD only. The HR21 is $299 with a $100 rebate, so $199 with free install.

If it is the H21 you want then there are plenty of posts with people getting better deals. You can buy a H21 for $99 and a dish for $99 yourself. That's $198 so just the install is free by that account. If you want a HR21, then $199 may be good if you don't have an older HR10 to upgrade from. I would still play CSR roulette and try for a better deal if it was me and a long-term customer.

Lots of folks have gotten the slim line and the dvr for $99. I don't know if the offer is still around but you might check further. Get the slim line if you can, lighter and smaller. You might get in contact with "customer retention", seems that is where most have their best luck.

A couple of days ago, I saw a new slimline 5LNB dish for $61 with free shipping, on ebayexpress (the non-auction area of ebay).
