Ok, I know alot of this has been hashed out before, but I still need some help. I was all set to buy the Optoma HD-70, but now I am debating getting the Mitsubishi HC-1500. First, I am a little confused as to the differences between the Mitsubishi HD1000 and the HC-1500. I see alot of info on the HD1000 but little on the HC-1500. One thing that spooked me about the Optoma is that it is being discontinued and I have seen some question as to its quality. I am scared that a discontinued model that has issues will not be easily repaired. However, I have also seen comments on the Mitsubishi's that they are not great for standard or even non HD digital cable. I am purchasing this to replace a cracked rear projection unit and do not intend to have an lcd or other television in the room, so standard tv will be watched in addition to movies and HD fare. I am trying to keep the cost to around $800 give or take a little. Another consideration is the offset. I am ceiling mounting to a 8 ft ceiling between 12 and 15 feet from I hope a 100 - 110" screen. I want the bottom of the screen to be about 2 feet off the floor. I am assuming I will need keystone with either projector.

I welcome your thoughts - Hopefully I will pull the trigger today.

I now understand this is a new model that replaces the HD1000.

Yes, and I believe the optoma hd70 is similar to specs to the HD1000, although the HD1000 is supposed to produce a sharper picture. I'm sure Optoma is going to put out a model to replace the HD70.
