I want to send my video feed to either my plasma or my projector, but not both at the same time. My Onkyo AV Receiver only has one component video out, so I'm faced with using either a splitter or a switcher to accomplish this.

Cable length from AVR to plasma - 20'
Cable length from AVR to projector - 30'

Question: With a splitter will I experience signal loss? Is it better with these lengths to use a powered switcher? If so, what would you recommend for a 1x2 setup that is remote controlled?

Don't get the simple splitter adapter cable. I did, very poor picture on both my TV and projector with 25' runs.

This is not what he wants. This switch takes 4 inputs and has one output. He wants something that takes 1 input and has 2 outputs (either a splitter or a switch).

I don't think the monoprice switch will work since it only has one output. Unless of course, it can be used in reverse. Can the one output be used as an input, and the inputs be used as outputs?

Unfortunately no. My Onkyo TX-SR604 receiver DOES have HDMI in/out but doesn't upscale the component, composite to HDMI. In fact, it doesn't matrix any inputs (other than HDMI) to HDMI and not all of my source components are HDMI.

To fix that, I'd either have to upgrade my AVR, or introduce an expensive video matrix switcher.

Puppycat, did you ever find a solution? I have the exact same problem but my cables will be about 3 feet to the TV and 10 feet to the projector, other than that we want to do the same thing.

PM me. I have a CE Labs amplified splitter which should suit your needs. I forget the model numbers but they have at least 4 outputs. You can have it cheap, we have a few of them we'd like to get out of inventory. I'll look up the models later.
