I am in serious need of some quick advice. I bought an x1 when they first came out, for the price and time it was a great machine. I sold it a couple years later and went back to rptv. Then I got sick of my little 52" screen and went projector hunting again this year. Did all the research and decided on the mits 1500 or the sanyo z5. After looking on ebay I settled for an infocus 4805 for a great deal. Now let me say I am vey pleased with the 4805, dvd and hi def look incredible, I really am very satisfied with the pic quality and feel no need to upgrade until I have a large hd dvd collection which I dont even have a player yet.

Heres my dilemma. I have owned three infocus machines, very happy with all. I love the 4805. Never any reliability problems and have put high lamp hours on them without a single problem.

Today I found a New, not refurb Optoma 7100 with full warranty for a ridiculously low $550. I dont know what to do. I know the 7100 is the far superior machine and quite a steal at that price. But I have read about a lot of lamp and DVI issues with it. I really dont know what to do, as I have said I am quite happy with the 4805 and am pretty confident I will get a few thousand hours on it problem free. I would be very upset If I sold it for the 7100, only to replace the lamp every few hundred hours. What do you guys think? Has Optoma fixed the lamp strike issue with these things?

Sorry about the long post, but really dont know what to do.

I have told people this over and over. This HT thing is worst then crack!!! You always need a fix, upgrade, modify something, bigger screen, louder speakers, etc.

I knew you wouldn't be gone for long.

I would say stay with what you are happy with, but thhen again...I feel the...NEED...TO...UPGRADEEEE!!!!
