It's not my opinion per se but the ISF calibrator that I know has constantly told me that he gets better end-results with Infocus than with Optoma. There's something about Optoma's that he doesn't like and he's told me that he gets a "very good" image from them post calibration whereas he gets an "excellent" image via Infocus (and BenQ and Mits by the way) post calibration. When I was asking his advice for a friend, he told me that he's calibrated several 7100's and wasn't overly impressed with the results when compared to others and even went so far as to recommend the Mits HC1500 over it.

Take it with a grain of salt...he's just one calibrator (although a very well respected one) and it's just one opinion.

I'm looking for that great 3d pop which do you think is better?

I can tell you that the "3d pop" ala showroom LCD/plasma is NOT what a calibrator is looking for. Accurate representation of color, blacks and greys are what the ISF calibration is all about. If you're looking for an accurate image where the image looks like it did when the Director was viewing it through the lens then my original post should have been useful. If you are looking for blown-out colors like you see on most show-room floors at big box stores, then my original response will not be helpful. A well calibrated image will 'pop' but it looks NOTHING like what you see from blown-out LCD's and plasma's. Most LCD's and plasma's have that cartoon feel to them where everything is brighter than in real life...a well calibrated image looks natural, like what we see when we look out the window.

Again, with a grain of salt I tell you that the Optoma doesn't calibrate as well for the calibrator that I talk with.

when i say pop i mean depth of image it gives almost a 3 dimentional look it is almost never in hd movies but usually in sports and wildlife shows in hd and no i'm not talking about blown out colors i use the calibration discs to give me accurate colors
i have owned 3 infocus projectors and should probably stay with the 7210 but i really like that 3d pop so i'm looking for the best projector for a grand that will give me great colors decent brightness and that 3d pop
