Okay so i obviously have purchased a new pioneer 5010fd.

Couple questions

I have heard people on the forms talk of a break in period of 200hrs, is this necessary and if so how do i do it.

Is there anything i should avoid in the first 200 hrs?

I have a ps3 and a 360 and will be playing video games on the tv as well as watching blu-ray movies.

I do not have satalite or cable rather i have the old school antenna air wave pick up for basic channels, could displaying these channels harm the TV b/c some come in cloudy/grainy.

Is ambient light from a fixture and or the sun harmful to the screen?

What product is best for cleaning the almighty plasma display?

Any other tips for this noob would be greatly appreciated

Thank you for your time.

There are special DVDs which you could run during break-in but really it's not necessary, especially with the new generation sets.

Things to avoid are side bars from watching 4:3 and long bouts of black bars top and bottom from truly widescreen DVDs like 2.35:1. Always use the sets 16:9 setting or comparable for the first 100-200 hours or so. Do not leave menus onscreen or any other static image for any length of time. This is less of a consideration with sets that have image protection features like Whitewash.

Turn your settings down to nothing over 50%, especially contrast & brightness. Even lower is better for the short term. The time will pass quickly enough...then turn the settings to what pleases you or have it calibrated for even better PQ.

PQ reception quality, good or bad, will not affect set.

No light source will harm your screen. Direct sunlight will wash out the screen visibility and roomlighting will reflect on screen surface. Proper light control is key with plasma.

I use water and microfiber cloth. There are kits which feature a safe solution along with the cloths available at BB and CC or online.

Enjoy your purchase and don't obsess. You have made an excellent choice.
